Abstract
The performance of composite Si-C of carbon coated Si anode has been investigated. Carbon coated Si was prepared by pyrolysis process from granulated sugar in inert argon environment. The structural properties of carbon coated Si were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), TG/DTA and particle size distribution. Li insertion and extraction are evaluated by the galvanostatic cycling method. Capacity fading upon cycling was monitored within a voltage window of 0 to 2V. It was found that 20wt% of decomposed sugar coated onto Si exhibited high reversible capacity of more than 400 mAh/g. Effect of current density on lithium extraction capacity is also discussed.
