Abstract

This paper proposed GC^1 rational quartic spline (quartic numerator and linear denominator) with two parameters to preserve the shape of the monotone data. Simple data dependent constraints will be derived on one of the parameters while the other is free to modify and refine the resultant shape of the data. Both parameters are independent to each other. The method under consideration here, avoid the modification of the derivative when the sufficient condition for the monotonicity are violated as can be noticed in the original construction of C^1 rational quartic spline with linear denominator. Numerical comparison between the proposed scheme and C^1 rational quartic spline will be given.
