Abstract
Coastal erosion has brought substantial effect to the world society as it result into retreating of land area. This issue has triggered several initiatives to innovate and develop more effective armoring unit for coastal protection structures. This is done to improve the erosion control measure. The armor unit innovation has progressively developed from a massive armor unit to a more compact and highly interlocking armor unit. The usage of rock as armor unit has relatively reduced due to cost constrain and material unavailability. Current trend shows that concrete armor unit is gradually becoming the preferred choice in the market because of its performance capability and effective design.
