Abstract

Walking is common means of traveling in urban area. The best route is determined by considering pavements, overhead bridges and other pedestrian attributes not common in motorist routes. Pedestrian is susceptible to misdemeanors, crashes, attacks by stray animals and other injuries. This paper presents pedestrian navigation concept which uses safety annotation to determine safest path based on user preference. Our prototype, SafeJourney, demonstrate how the system can find relatively safer routes on a map by making use of the annotations.
