Abstract

Abstract

This paper is aims to show the importance of effective collaboration within the different entities in the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS to provide a more comprehensive Islamic education, theoretically and in practice. The strategy is to have a synergetic approach in implementation of Islamic education and practices. In UTP there are three main entities which contribute most to the development of Islamic understanding among the students namely UTP Mosque Committee, General Studies Program and Student Support Services. UTP religious officers and Islamic studies lecturers will recommend an outline for Islamic courses, programs and activities for the students to follow during their stay in UTP. The collaboration of these three parties will ensure the comprehensiveness of the Islamic education modules which would fulfill the basic Islamic elements needed for the engineering and technology students in UTP, in line with the University’s mission to produce a well rounded student. Moreover, this integrated approach of Islamic education can avoid any redundancy in delivering the modules and give more emphasis to the areas needed most by the student.
