Abstract
This paper proposes a prototype called Car Tracking System (Auto Barrier) using RFID System Powered by Solar Energy for Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) to monitor movement of cars entering and leaving this university. This work premise deals with development RFID tagging system to track the cars movement. It uses a low frequency RFID tagging system coupled with a database and a servo motor. The tag is placed at front mirror of the cars that enter or leave the university. Once the reader detected the registered tag it will be activated and will trigger the computer to display the information stored in the database such as driver name, car plate number, type of car, colour of the car and at the same time record the date and time of the transaction. Servo motor is used to control the gate that opens when the tag is detected by the reader. This servo motor is powered by solar energy. This system is designed to improve security at UTP and at the same time to reduce workload of the security guard.
