Abstract

In an increasingly populous world, the development of new construction forms is becoming a necessity. This development must be accompanied by a high level of precision in order to function efficiently. This study employs a Grasshopper based Automated Slab Positioning Tool (ASPT) for the early in design stage allocation of construction slab element. In addition, the ASPT tool includes evolutionary solvers that calculate the best combination of slab on the basis of the genetic variation of the slab's physical characteristics, including its dimensions, as well as its fitness in terms of the percentage of area covered by the slabs. The results from the selections of evolutionary solver illustrated the capability to choose the best fit arrangement amongst the various selection provided via the visual program. © 2021 IEEE.
