Abstract

Safety Integrity Level is defined as a relative level of
risk reduction supplied by a safety function, and what is meant
by Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) methods are operations
undertaken to extract remaining oil reserves from fields which
have been considerably depleted by previous exploitation. Gas
injection is the most common EOR technique in use today.
Raising safety integrity level is an imperative part of condition
monitoring in the CO2 injection projects and well design
perspective. Some bottlenecks in the safety level can come from CO2 leakage from injection wells. All gas injection wells are specially treated to meet special safety and operational standards. This paper will elaborate the major approaches for promoting safety at CO2 injection enhanced oil recovery projects.
