Abstract
Abstract
The growing number of toll highway companies has added a new dimension to the Malaysian corporate business landscape. To date, little consideration has been given to the study of management control in the organization of the highway concessionaires. This paper discusses the various forms of management control in the organization of a tolled highway concessionaire in the Klang Valley, Malaysia. Among others they include standardization of work, rule observation, personal participation in decision making, hierarchy of authority, input control, and output control. Data for the study was collected through questionnaire-aided sample survey. The findings of the study showed no evidence of a predominant form of control in the organization. It was revealed that participation in decision making is negatively related to standardization of work. On the contrary, hierarchy of authority positively influences the level of standardization of work.
