Abstract

In this paper, four elements fractal shape antenna with non-uniform annular ring Photonic Band Gap (PBG) etched in the ground is presented. The impact of the PBG structure in removing the undesired harmonic frequencies of the proposed antenna is demonstrated. The proposed antenna is designed, fabricated and tested. The results show that the designed antenna is capable of resonating at three different frequencies of 915 MHz, 1.8 GHz and 2.45 GHz with high-efficiency performance in terms of return loss, gain and radiation pattern characteristics with compact size. Good agreement between the measured and the simulated results is observed. © 2016 IEEE.
